Television Director and Supervising editor for TV5.

 

Concurrently, I am also a freelance documentary filmmaker, videographer and video editor. Skilled in operating a DSLR camera (Canon 60d) for shooting video and still photographs. I'm also proficient in linear video editing using Mac based Final Cut Pro.

 

I'm also skillful in storyboard conceptualization and execution for program OBBs and AVPs.

 

I have been major proponent of a television “think-tank” / “concepts group” which is created to come up with fresh and new concepts for television shows and program segments.

I have been a Creative Director in one of ABS- CBN News and Current Affairs’ Ako ang Simula - election documentary series (2009).

I have also been a Field and Studio Director, Editing Supervisor, Video Editor and Music Scorer for Gma Network Inc.

Work experience:

 

I have been a Director and Editing supervisor, Video editor for I-Witness: (The GMA – 7 Documentaries) as early as year 2000.

 

I have been fortunate to have directed five (5) documentary films outside the Philippines. I was the Executive producer / Director and Cameraman in some of these documentaries. Two (2) documentaries were shot entirely in the United States, New York and New Jersey respectively. The other two (2) were shot in Australia, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. I was also assigned to do a documentary about the plight of Filipino musicians in Shanghai, China.

 
Awards and citations:

 

I have been privileged to edit a series of "child labor" stories which eventually won the George Foster Peabody Award (the Oscar awards for Television) at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York. These pieces were written and hosted by multi-awarded broadcast Journalist Jay Taruc.

 

I have also Directed two (2) documentary films which made it to the U.S International Film and Video Festival in California.

These are “Basurero” (Garbage People) and “Taong Grasa” (Grease Man), both won 3rd place Certificates for Creative Excellence.

 

“Basurero” (Garbage People) also became a finalist in The Shanghai Film and Television Festival last 2004.

 

In 2003, I-witness the Gma 7 Documentaries was awarded as “Best public service program” by the Catholic mass media Awards (CMMA) for the documentary film “Gamu-gamo sa Dilim” (Children in the Dark). I was the Director, Video editor and Musical scorer of the said documentary. The piece was written and hosted by multi-awarded broadcast journalist Kara David.

 

In 2004, I along with veteran reporter Alex Tinsay was assigned to cover the Philippines’ May 11 Presidential elections in Hongkong. I supervised the shooting, video editing, live studio broadcast and video feeding at the Reuters office in Hongkong.

 

 

Educational Background

 

I have just recently attended a seminar on “Adobe After Effects (CS6 and CC) Basics” (with an Adobe Certificate of Completion) and another seminar on “Digital Video Fundamentals”.

 

Both seminar were held at the Philippine Center for creative Imaging, www.pcci.com.ph. - the purpose was to learn, relearn and be oriented in the basic language and video and filmmaking and television and film post-production techniques.

 

I am an Anthropology Major and took Film Studies as a minor course in the University of the Philippines.

 

I have also attended a Television Commercials Directing workshop under International Institute for Film and Arts. The workshop was handled Television Commercial Director Cris Mojica.

 

I am a holder of an Independent Filmmaker’s Certificate of Completion and a Producer’s Diploma given by Dov S-S Simens, founder of The Hollywood Film Institute.

 

I also took Photography and appreciation under Mandy Navasero.

I have also attended a television Writings workshop in the Ateneo de Manila University for Television Writing with Noel Ferrer as workshop facilitator.

 

And I have also attended a 2-day workshop for News Producers in CNN’s Manila office. The workshop was headed by then CNN’s Jakarta then, Bureau Chief Maria Ressa and Kit Swartz, Cameraman / Editor of CNN Bangkok Bureau.
